Deliver specialized nursing care as a Stepdown RN providing support for post-catheterization patients and progressive care unit (PCU) level patients in a 20-bed unit. This role requires skilled clinical judgment to manage complex cardiac patients, administer advanced treatments, and coordinate care within an interdisciplinary team. The position is contract-based with 12-hour night shifts, requiring at least two years of nursing experience and certifications including BLS and ACLS. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans. Administer cardiac-related medications and manage drips such as amiodarone, nitroglycerin, milrinone, and heparin. Monitor and care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, TR bands, and advanced respiratory support including high flow oxygen and BiPAP. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated patient care and safety advocacy. Support patients and families through education and emotional coping strategies. Use clinical judgment to prioritize care in rapidly changing patient conditions. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Current RN license in a compact or state-appropriate jurisdiction. Minimum 2 years RN experience; acute care hospital setting preferred. BLS and ACLS certification required; NIH Stroke Certification preferred. Knowledge of cardiac nursing, post-Cath Lab care, and progressive care patient management. Familiarity with EPIC EHR and critical care protocols advantageous.
