Job Description:

The Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Study Coordinator. The position will be responsible for assisting and supporting clinical research studies investigating Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. This position collects and records data for entry into electronic databases as part of clinical research studies. The position is also responsible for the collection and processing of biological samples to support clinical research studies. The individual works directly with patients and physicians and explains the research to eligible patients and obtains their informed consent. This position works under the supervision of the Clinical Research Coordinator and the Principal Investigators. The individual will work at the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center (JHOC) at the East Baltimore medical campus.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruit eligible participants into clinical research studies in accordance with the study protocol.
  • Enter patient demographic and clinical data into institutional database systems and respond in a timely manner to special projects or queries related to the data.
  • Identify potential study participants among the patients seen at JHOC and ensure that all testing required for a study protocol is completed.
  • Compile study information (data) as requested by each protocol, including data entry.
  • Process collected biospecimens.
  • Explain study procedures to prospective participants, conduct baseline and follow-up interviews and complete questionnaires.
  • Work with the database manager on proper entry of collected data.
  • Perform related project tasks and support as necessary.

    • Efficiency, organization, and time management skills.
    • Use all standard personal computer workstation programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Proficiency in the use of software applications (i.e. Word, Excel) to maintain databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Work well with other professionals with minimal supervision.
    • Comfortable being part of a diverse professional team.

      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
      • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
