The Bioprocessing Laboratory integrates clinical and laboratory
activities through biospecimen lifecycle management. The
Bioprocessing Laboratory and Trial Logistics Support Group partners
with intramural and extramural investigators to translate clinical
workflows into practical specimen collection, processing, and
storage procedures. These procedures result in high-quality,
well-annotated specimens suitable for their primary purpose and as
bioresource collections for future research. THIS POSITION REQUIRES
A FIXED DAY SHIFT TUESDAY - SATURDAY KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES The
BioProcessing and Trial Logistics group is part of the Clinical
Services Program (CSP) within the Applied/Developmental Research
Directorate (ADRD) at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer
Research (FNLCR). The Research Associate II position would
primarily provide specimen processing and supervisory support to an
NIH-funded clinical project. The core responsibilities of this
position are: Supervise daily laboratory operations and staff
workflow Training junior staff on general lab techniques and
specific protocol requirements Separation of human blood samples
into sub fractions Creating specimen aliquots Handling frozen
material, using dry ice & specialized dry ice workstations General
laboratory upkeep, equipment monitoring, and inventory control
Daily use of Excel, Word, Outlook for documentation and reporting
Daily communication with team members & internal support groups
Generating daily specimen receipt log Reporting discrepancy or
shipment issues directly with client BASIC QUALIFICATIONS To be
considered for this position, you must minimally meet the
knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: Possession of
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university according
to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four
(4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees
must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency In addition to the education
requirement, a minimum of five (5) years of experience working with
human specimens and increased responsibility including supervision
Ability to work a fixed Tuesday-Saturday schedule Strong
interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills Experience
working with human biological specimens Knowledge of aseptic
technique Previous experience working with serologic pipets and
micropipettes Experience with Microsoft Suite, to include Excel,
Word Ability to routinely lift 25 pounds Ability to focus for
extended periods of time Excellent communication and documentation
skills Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Candidates with these desired skills will
be given preferential consideration: Previous experience
supervising laboratory staff and workflows Previous experience
using label printing software Previous experience with specimen
inventory management software Previous experience working with
liquid biopsy collection tubes Previous experience coordinating
time-sensitive specimen processing for clinical research Strong

posted pay range for this job is a general guideline and not a
guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered

salary and will vary depending on scheduled hours for part time
